MANUEL AND HIS MARVELLOUS MINIS

‘I like the same things you do Papa.’ said my little furry teddy-bear friend.

‘What makes you say that Hiccup?’ I asked him in response.

‘Well you like liquorice, don’t you? We had lots when we were with Lulworth bear in his liquorice laboratory; I don’t think I could ever have too much liquorice.’

I didn’t say too much, but I think we probably could have too much liquorice. I do rather like it but not in the quantity that Hiccup was envisaging. He became carried away in the laboratory in Lulworth in the beautiful county of Dorset.

‘I still think liquorice-shaped Hiccups would be a lovely idea.’

‘Anyway.’ He was going to keep talking, I could sense that. Something was fixed in his mind.

‘I like Mini Coopers too, just as you do. You know you have one, is it an old one or a new one?’

Now I knew what was on his mind.

‘My very first car was an old Mini from 1962, and I kept if tor 10 years.’ I told him, thinking back to those days when motoring was pure fun.

‘The one I have now isn’t quite that old, but it’s still one of the original Mini Coopers.’

Hiccup was now properly engaged with me.

‘You mean, like the ones that I saw when I was with Manuel?’

I could see why he was excited now. He had a really great day with Manuel who has a collection of magnificent older Mini cars.

‘I think they are the BEST.’ Hiccup was remembering his day with Manuel now.

‘Did you write a book about Manuel and me?’

Of course I did, and it’s sitting waiting to be printed when I hear from Austin Macauley again.

‘What did you say in the book, Papa?’

‘Wait and see, Hiccup. Just wait and see.’

I attach the picture of Manuel which was produced for the original book of the 26 teddy-bears. All the others are in the book about Manuel.
