‘I have just seen what you are drawing, Papa?’
Hiccup caught his breath having raced in from the garden.
‘I look very big.’ he added.
I admit that he does but he is the STAR and I told him so.
All the other 26 teddy-bears are not drawn to scale either.
‘Yes Hiccup, I know Harry is the biggest, but it’s about composition and that is why I have produced them like this.’
I tried to explain but I am pretty sure most of what I say is lost on him.
‘At least you made me the Superstar.’
You see some is lost on him and some sinks in . . . when it suits him.
Is this what makes him so loveable; the demanding, picky and dear little bear that he is?
However, Hiccup did want to know why I had produced this cover illustration.
Quite simply I consider that to tell the story properly I must have an omnibus edition which has ALL 26 stories of all the teddy-bears in it. Hence this cover for a big old volume.
I have my fingers crossed for Hiccup, he needs so much encouragement.
