THE FORMAT MATERIALISES

With the first book now completed and a format becoming established, I felt that other titles would take care of themselves.
To a certain extent that this did appear to be the solution, but I had begun working to ensure that each subsequent title would take Hiccup in new directions too.
He had to be an explorer and naïve traveller from time to time and place to place.
It was never to be my intention of being too ‘correct’ since my enjoyment came from the fact that the books I loved were stripped of ‘correctness’.
Hiccup would concur with that.
The first obstacle presented itself with the second book, ‘Ivan and his Ice-Cream Van’.
True to the form I wished the stories to follow one another. In this instance a story had come into my mind actually before I had even written ‘Harry and Hiccup play Hide and Seek’.
I am certainly not going to let that cat out of the bag but the format was solidifying now. In every story Hiccup would have to endure three misadventures before finally things working out well with Hiccup being able to be introduced to the next Alpha-Beta Teddy-bear.
